Explained simply
Project management: Definition & methods
Each project is unique and the right procedure is needed to ensure smooth implementation. All projects have one thing in common: they aim to translate the position as it actually is into the situation they are intended to achieve. Various methods are possible, depending on how complex the requirements are, but each method may bring advantages and disadvantages. This makes it all the more important that you are able to rely on a well-thought-out project management method. But what does (IT) project management entail and what potential methods can be applied? We’ll let you into the secret!
What is project management?
Project management involves targeted management and control of all entities and resources involved. The primary objective is to bring the relevant project to a successful conclusion, keeping broadly within the specified time frame and using the least resources possible.
One of the features of IT projects is that they are particularly complex and therefore demand sophisticated IT project management, which precisely defines all stages – from when the requirements are defined to when the project goes live.
IT project management: Methods
If your forthcoming IT project is to be implemented successfully, management must be realistic and tailored to your needs. Theoretically, there are three possible methods for this:
At GOB we favour the hybrid project management method that we have developed ourselves over the years, based on the benefits offered by agile and conventional project management: GOBHybrid. This allows us to translate your requirements into practice and ensures that the result meets your expectations in every way.

Hybrid project management at GOB
With GOBHybrid, we offer you planning reliability combined with flexibility. Our hybrid project management combines the benefits of agile and conventional methodology to form a standardised project management method that has been perfected over the years and is also very capable of handling complex configurations.
When using GOBHybrid, the concept design and specification phases initially follow the conventional route. As soon as requirements are in the backlog they are pinpointed and prioritized. Once this initial phase has been completed, management moves to the sprint phase, which has an agile structure: The agreed requirements are gradually implemented in various sprints.
Here, too, once a sprint has been completed, the functionalities developed during the sprint can be implemented and therefore used.
Once the agile sprint phase has been fully completed, GOBHybrid continues with conventional methodology. You can now make full use of the solution produced once the project deliverables have been accepted.
Transparent collaboration
Allocation of tasks for hybrid project management
It is absolutely essential for tasks to be allocated transparently and communicated clearly if our shared project is to run smoothly. Whether it’s the project management, definition of requirements, provision of data, implementation or testing, the way in which tasks are allocated between the GOB team and yourself as the customer will be clear from the start and will ensure that no lack of clarity occurs at any point during our shared project.
